How to Play: Davy Jones
Index -> Board Game -> Davy Jones
When you choose a Davy Jones encounter token, that token is removed from the game and the Davy Jones marker appears to all players above the island where the token was chosen. If Davy Jones was already on another island, his marker is moved to this new island.
Your captain and Davy Jones immediately square off in a swordfight. All players will see a special swordfight dialog box, showing Davy Jones and your captain. Each combatant will have a die rolled with his or her sword bonus added to the result. Highest roll is victorious! If the result is tied, the captain wins the fight.
If Davy Jones wins, a mast must be removed from the losing captain's ship that chose the encounter token. In addition, if that ship is carrying gold tokens, one is taken at random and placed face down on the island with Davy Jones. If that ship has no gold, one gold token is taken from the home island of that captain's player instead. If that home island has no gold, then no gold is taken. On the next turn, the ship's captain can choose to leave the island with a move action or fight Davy Jones again with an explore action. As long as Davy Jones remains on an island, no treasure can be removed from it.
If the captain wins, its player gets one of Davy Jones' treasure tokens face up on his or her home island; it is worth 6 gold Davy Jones runs away to a random island each time he is defeated. His marker always shows where he is after he is first discovered.
Davy Jones on a Home Island
If Davy Jones runs away to a player's home island, any ship can dock there and use an explore action only to fight him (the home island can't be explored). The player of that home island can't unload any gold while Davy Jones is there. If a player loses a swordfight against Davy Jones on a home island, a gold token is randomly taken from that island (if any) and placed on a wild island.
