How to Play: Shoot
Index -> Board Game -> Actions -> Shoot
A ship that has no masts remaining after a shoot action is defeated, and her owner must place her docked at her home island. A defeated ship can't move again until she has been given a repair action.
If a ship carrying gold was defeated by a cannon shot, one of the gold tokens aboard that ship will be placed face down on the home island of the owner of the ship that defeated her. Any other gold tokens will be placed face down on the nearest wild island.
If a ship carrying gold was defeated but not by a cannon shot, all the gold tokens on her will be placed face down on the nearest wild island.
Defeating a Sea Monster
When a ship hits a sea monster, the player whose turn it is must select one of the sea monster's parts (head, segment, tentacle, and so on) to be removed. When a sea monster has no more parts, it is defeated and removed from the playmat. It can re-enter the game (with all its parts) if another of its tokens is chosen.
Parley
If a ship is given a shoot action to shoot at a target ship, when a cannon is chosen to fire (and a target selected, if necessary), the target's player can parley for safe passage. In order to receive a parley action, the target must be carrying gold tokens or her player must have gold tokens on his or her home island.
If so, the attacking player can't shoot at the target. In return, the attacking player receives one gold token at random from either the target or her player's home island (chosen by the target player). The gold token is placed on the attacking player's home island, and the target can't be attacked for the remainder of that turn. You can't parley with sea monsters!
