Using terrain in your game is optional. If you use terrain in your game, players should agree on the number of terrain pieces that will be used. Terrain types have many effects on game play, such as blocking line of fire, hindering movement, and damaging ships. Reef, Sargasso Sea, and Fog Bank are terrain types.
